This is an adventure hike, we will climb the Cerros Orientales from the south of Bogotá to reach Chipaque. Along the way we will be able to enjoy a unique natural space surrounded by waterfalls, lakes, mosses, frailejones, puyas and the magical paramo ecosystem. Little by little we will leave the city to enter a high Andean forest to reach the Cruz moor, which is well preserved. Along the way we can feel the connection by being completely surrounded by nature. Along the way, accompanied by a local guide, we will learn about this territory, its ecosystem, vegetation and ancestral stories, such as the more than 2,000-year-old indigenous cemetery discovered in the town of Usme.

We will have the challenge of reaching 3,300 meters above sea level. after passing the 9 peaks or summits of this wonderful trail.

We will begin the tour in the eastern hills of Bogotá to discover the ecological corridor that connects the Sumapaz and Chingaza moors. We will visit the Páramo de Cruz Verde at an altitude between 2,700 and 3,680 meters above sea level. We will go up through the east of Bogotá to the municipality of Chipaque. On the way we will be able to observe Bogotá from above, at this point we will be able to see part of the 2,000-year-old indigenous cemetery where it is estimated there may be more than 1,500 tombs.

We will climb until we reach the 9 peaks or summits that separate Bogotá from the Municipality of Chipaque. We will enjoy a beautiful landscape with a beautiful ravine, lakes, and a paramo ecosystem surrounded by frailejones, puyas, mosses and ferns. At the beginning the trail is a little steep and can be a bit muddy depending on the rainy season.

Cruz Verde Páramo

The Cruz Verde-Sumapaz complex is located on the Eastern mountain range southeast of the department of Cundinamarca and northeast of Meta, including a part of northern Huila, and has an area of 266,750 ha. The Cruz Verde-Sumapaz complex is located between 3,250 and 4,230 meters above sea level and includes the paramos of Choachí, Cruz Verde, Las Ánimas, Monserrate, Andabobos, El Cajón, El Cedral, Sumapaz, El Nevado, Nuevo Mundo, Pasquilla, Usme, Chisacá and Las Mercedes among others.

Los Soches Agropark

This space was created as a need for the conservation of peasant identity based on the urbanization of the area, in order to protect and preserve wildlife.

Yomasa Gorge

This natural stream is a water source that supplies water to the south-east of Bogotá. It is nourished by water from the moors to bring it to those who need it in the urban area.

💦 This trail contains sections in moorland, there the weather can be variable, please do not forget to bring a change of clothes for after the tour. Do not wear jeans or cotton clothing, preferably wear quick-drying clothing.

🥾 We will walk through muddy areas and there may be unstable sections. Wearing shoes that can get wet, boots or footwear with a good grip sole that protects the ankle is ideal. Avoid wearing converse-type sneakers or ballet shoes. Don't wear new shoes on these outings.

🧢 Wear a hat or cap, sunscreen.

💊 Bring your medications and personal documents (medical insurance card and ID).

🎒 Use an ergonomic two-strap backpack to carry on your back.

How do you know if this plan is for you?

This is a route with great physical challenges, if you exercise regularly, this route is for you. This trail is level 3.80 (high) due to the difficulty of the trail, the demand in most of the sections, the height and the distance we will travel, this requires considerable physical effort.

What will the food be like?

We recommend having breakfast before or bringing it to consume before the tour.
