We will begin the walk along the royal road that connects Choachí with Bogotá, from 3000 meters above sea level, to learn about the stories that this ancestral path keeps. On the way we will enjoy two beautiful waterfalls while we climb to the Cruz Verde paramo observing the change of the plant species from sub-paramo to paramo, passing through the boundary that divides Bogotá and Choachí.
There are also islets, crossing the moor surrounded by cardones, frailejones and accompanied by a fresh and pure breeze. At the end of the mountain we will find a very special place where we can see the seven municipalities of the east in the distance with a spectacular view and obviously the expected face of the Indian that appears as if carved on the rock.

We will begin the walk uphill along royal stone paths, as we ascend we can see the changes in vegetation until we reach a paramo ecosystem where we will immerse ourselves in the immensity of this ecosystem. The highest part of the route is at 3,490 meters above sea level. If weather conditions allow it, it is possible to observe the eastern landscape towards the towns of Fómeque and Choachí.
In the moor we can enjoy different lagoon complexes, mosses and water mattresses. For this hike it is recommended to wear rubber boots given the humidity of the trail.
The total route has a distance of 10 km with an ascent of 584 meters, and an approximate duration of 6 to 7 hours, starting at an approximate altitude of 3,056 meters above sea level. and reaching its highest point at 3,477 meters above sea level. approximately. This route is medium-high level.
Cerro Peña Azul
In the Cruz Verde moor we will find this spectacular rock with high landscape and environmental value such as the Abuela waterfall, the Peña Azul hill and lagoons, and the Indio face.
