Expedition to the Peñas Blancas Forest Reserve

We will leave Bogotá very early to travel to the municipality of Cumaca where we will begin our ascent to the Peñas Blancas Forest Reserve. During the journey we will find beautiful species of flora such as leafy rubber and oak trees, we will see magical butterflies and beautiful orchids that provide a sweet smell to the trail. On the way up we will have incredible panoramic views of the beautiful landscape of the Magdalena River valley and 11 municipalities of Cundinamarca. With luck we will see the Pico de Santa Isabel in the Parque de los Nevados.

This is an incredible expedition, in the middle of the forest and high in the mountains, a perfect outdoor activity.

A remote municipality of Tibacuy that is located in the Sumapaz region, surrounded by two beautiful Protective Forest Reserves such as Peñas Blancas and Cerro Quinini.

A wonderful forest reserve where lush Roche and Caucho trees stand out, where we will learn about their ecosystem services and appreciate their beautiful biodiversity.

😷 Bring your EPP Personal Protection Elements Kit (Masks, antibacterial gel or alcohol in a spray bottle, disposable tissues, bag for personal waste disposal).

💦 In case of possible rain, please do not forget to bring a change of clothes for after the tour. Do not wear jeans or cotton clothing, preferably wear quick-drying clothing.

🥾 We will walk through rocky areas, some sections may have mud or very smooth parts. Wearing shoes that can get wet, boots or footwear with a good grip sole that protects the ankle is ideal. Avoid wearing converse-type sneakers or ballet shoes. Don't wear new shoes on these outings.

🧢 Wear a hat or cap, sunscreen.

💊 Bring your medications and personal documents (medical insurance card and ID).

How do you know if this plan is for you?

This is an ideal route if you are looking for a comfortable and not so physically demanding experience. This trail is level 4.2 (Medium - High Level) due to the distance and rocky areas of the trail, it has sections with ascents that represent some challenges on a physical level.

What will the food be like?

We recommend having breakfast before or bringing it to consume before the tour, we will make a stop before the trail for those who wish to stock up on some snacks. Your body may ask for more energy, so we suggest you bring snacks such as fruits, nuts, sandwiches or cereal bars. Don't forget to bring at least a liter of water to hydrate yourself along the way.
