Discover the immensity of the Farallones or Cliffs of Sutatausa, a natural paradise and explore the area around Sutatausa. Once we have met our travellers we set off towards the town of Sutatausa on a route which lasts approximately one and a half hours.

On arrival, we will learn some of the history of the town and will prepare ourselves for a walk which lasts a little more than 4 hours. We start on paths leading through the hamlets surrounding the main town until we reach an ascending path leading us through a pine forest. Once through this we reach the Rock of the Farallones to ascend to a viewing spot above the rock from where we will have a wonderful view of the forests and vegetation in the valley of Ubaté. On the trek we can take wonderful photos, reminders to ourselves to not forget what we have seen, to return to the town via a route populated with giant rocks and boulders. Once in Sutatausa, there will be enough time for a little more tourism in the town before heading back again.

Level of difficulty: Low-Medium

Time to complete trek: 4-5 hours approximately

The Farallones of Sutatausa

These cliffs extend for approximately 12 kilometres reaching 3,200 metres above sea level at their highest point. To walk the cliffs is wonderful experience, full of adventure and wonderful insights, as well as an opportunity to learn about their importance in the history of Colombia.

City of Pines

For a considerable part of this hike, we will be walking in a pine forest full of mature, majestic and imposing trees, the canopy they provide enclosing us completely in the silence of the forest.

Sutatausa Municipality

This town and the surrounding area are the site of clues our ancestors have left behind about our shared history, in the form of the cave paintings and other remnants we have from this area to remind us of who was here before the Conquest. Additionally, Sutatausa was an important centre for the Doctrine, a place where the Spanish gave religious instruction in the Catholic faith to the indigenous communities in the region. Sutatausa has an important historical and cultural legacy which continues to evolve today, in the hands of the many talented artisans who live in this town.
