Trip to PNN Tayrona, Kogui Communities and Paradisiacal Beaches

Day 1

In the morning we will walk in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta to discover a beautiful waterfall among the mountains. Depending on the time of year you can see its beautiful green color. You can also enjoy a refreshing bath.

To get to the waterfall we will walk for an hour and a half, the path has some climbs so some physical effort is required. After enjoying the El Saltillo waterfall we will get down to the car to visit Playa Los Ángeles.

The afternoon will be spent relaxing on the beach where you can play with the waves, walk on the beach, visit the viewpoint, read or simply relax. There is a restaurant on site where you can have lunch or dinner. Here we will spend the night.

Day 2

This will be a wonderful day where we will visit the Tayrona National Natural Park, a protected area of 15,000 hectares where you can see and enjoy spectacular beaches. There will be an 8 km walk, we will walk for two and a half hours to get to Playa Cabo San Juan and we will have to walk the same time on the way back. The walk has no ascents, most of it is flat but it needs good sun protection because in some parts we will walk on the beach and in others we can protect ourselves with the trees of the tropical forest.

In Cabo San Juan we will have time to enjoy the beach, you can have lunch and head back. We must leave the national park at 5:30 p.m. Then we will travel to the town of Palomino where we will stay. There they will have the night free to rest or get to know part of the nightlife of this town.

Day 3

We will have breakfast and then take a 40-minute trip to Río Ancho. There we will begin to walk for two hours to reach the Kogui community of Tungueka. We will visit the community to learn about its traditional buildings, geographical organization, and some of its traditions.

You can also take a refreshing swim in the river that is fed by waters from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Tayrona National Park

The Tayrona National Natural Park is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in the Caribbean of Colombia. Of the 15,000 hectares that make up the park, 3,000 are marine area. More than 350 species of algae are distributed in the maritime strip of the park, while the terrestrial flora has more than 770 different species of plants. The National flower is the orchid, which is widely found in this region (Caribbean). This Park is characterized by its tropical landscape, coral formations, white beaches, rocky coastline, mangroves and lagoons.

Tungueka indigenous community

A Kogi settlement, which maintains its customs and traditions and opens its doors to teach us about its culture.

El Saltillo Waterfall

It is a beautiful crystal clear body of water between the mountains. A place with the wonders of the mountains, its rocks, crystal clear water, mountains and greenery.

Los Angeles Beach

In the area of influence of Tayrona there is a beach of around 5 km, ideal for walking or enjoying the sea. It is recommended to be careful since the waves are intermediate and it is open sea.

🌴☀🕶 Travel equipment: Sunscreen. Insect repellent. Sunglasses. Canteen, thermos or camelback. Towel. Small backpack for personal things.

🥾Travel clothing: It is important to wear comfortable and fresh clothing, it can be quick-drying synthetic clothing. Tennis or closed shoes for hiking. You can also bring some additional sandals. Swimsuit. Hat or Cap. Scarf, buff or sarong to protect you from the sun.​

🤓 Special recommendations: It is very important to be well protected from the sun and constantly hydrated during the trip. Bring your camera and binoculars to facilitate the observation of fauna and flora.

In these places it is advisable to have the Yellow Fever vaccine. If you take specific medications, take them with you. It never hurts to carry a personal first aid kit.
