We will visit the Chingaza National Natural Park and there a trail in the middle of the Páramo and the high Andean forest with environmental interpretation, there we will visit La Laguna de Chingaza and the Chuza Reservoir and then follow the old road to the municipality of San Juanito, Meta where We will have the opportunity to learn about its history and culture.

We will go to the Las Cascadas de Lajitas viewpoint and from here a path that will take us deep into the Guatiquía Canyon to a suspension bridge that connects the mountains right in front of the waterfalls. We will visit the Tablón Natural Grotto, a 70-meter-deep cavern where a 15-meter waterfall falls on the interior wall and after passing through we will discover a sedimentary layer of marine fossils.

We will visit El Calvario Meta, its waterfalls and places of interest, the San Isidro Gorge and its Natural wells and also part of the water system that supplies the country's capital.


Chingaza Lagoon

The beautiful Chingaza natural park has a great river wealth made up of the upper basin of various rivers, as well as various lagoons, which have been declared a World Heritage Site, one of them “The Chingaza lagoon” contributes a high percentage to feed the aqueduct that provides water to the city of Bogotá.

The Guatiquía River is a river that originates in the Páramo de Chingaza at 3,500 meters above sea level. From the jurisdiction of the municipality of Quetame (department of Cundinamarca) to its exit to the Meta River, in the Eastern Llanos it runs 137 km through a long and deep canyon. The Guatiquía River runs through the municipalities of San Juanito and Calvario.

👕 Pack enough clothes for three days. Comfortable, waterproof and breathable clothing. The climate is temperate but quite variable with chances of rain. Use clothing that dries quickly, do not use cotton clothing. Remember the theory of 3 layers: 1. A dry layer, second skin; 2. A warm, warm layer; 3. A layer of protection, “waterproof shell”. Don't forget your change of clothes in case you get wet or muddy.
