Llanero Safari in the El Encanto Reserve of Guanapalo

Day 1 - Welcome to the Herd, Plains Safari and Howler Monkeys

We will arrive at the El Encanto de Guanapalo Reserve and we will have a short talk about the history of the herds, how they came together and formed the Natural Reserve. After a rest, we will go out for a short guided walk along the ecological trail where we will have a small sample of the landscapes, flora and fauna that this paradise has. At sunset we will go on a horseback ride where we can see different types of birds or howler monkeys. During the tour you will be able to appreciate the exuberant wildlife of birds, mammals and reptiles. Dinner accompanied by the telling of stories, myths and legends of the plain.

Day 2- Ecological Trail, Curiara Ride and Plains Work

Early risers will be able to enjoy the plains sunrise. We will start the day with a traditional breakfast. We will take a beautiful ride in a curiara (small wooden boat) through the channels and ravines to contemplate the fascinating and beautiful biodiversity. We will return to the Hato for lunch. and in the afternoon, later we will have the plains safari experience in 4x4; Enter the plain to witness the fauna and flora of this incredible natural reserve. Dinner and rest in the herd.

Day 3. Visit to Garcero and return to Bogotá

Early risers will be able to enjoy the plains sunrise. We will have breakfast, we will have time to pack our luggage and check out. You can take a walk or craft workshop. We will have lunch. And we will have time to enjoy this beautiful natural reserve and then begin our trip back to Bogotá

El Encanto of Guanapalo

The Natural Reserve is made up of three Hatos (large farms with a livestock vocation) of a traditional plains family, it is home to more than 245 records of endemic and migratory birds, 15 records of mammals, 25 records of amphibians, 45 records of reptiles and fish. In addition, it has 1,284 conserved hectares of the 8,920 that the reserve has.

🧢 Wear a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun. It is important to use sunscreen, remember to use a mineral sunscreen for your face. Personal towel to use during walks.

👕 Pack light clothes, for warm weather and that can get wet, enough for two days. It is also important to bring a raincoat in case of rain.

🥾 Wear comfortable shoes, preferably tennis shoes that can get wet, in any case avoid ballet shoes. It is important to bring two pairs of shoes in case your shoes get wet during the tour.

💊 Bring your medications and personal documents (medical insurance card and ID)

🎒 Do not use a wheeled suitcase and carry an additional kangaroo or small backpack so you can take your personal items on walks.

🧣 We suggest bringing a blanket for the cold in the early morning when leaving Bogotá, as well as a light sleeping bag for the night in Florián.

• It is very important to be well protected from the sun and constantly hydrated during the trip.
• Bring snacks to eat during the walks.
• Due to weather conditions, it is a good option to bring airtight bags for your personal documents and electronic equipment.
• Don't forget your camera. Binoculars will make it easier to observe the fauna.
• Remember that the summer months are from December to March. The winter months are from May to October and there are 2 transition months which are November and April.
• If you take specific medications, take them with you. It never hurts to carry a personal first aid kit.
