Join us on this great two-day journey through the Nevados National Park and conquer the top of one of our most emblematic glaciers in the national territory.

We will ascend from 2,160 meters above sea level to 4,100 meters above sea level. We will walk through a paramo ecosystem where we will visit cloud forests and frailejones forests until we reach the El Cisne shelter where we will spend the first night.

Day 1

We will leave from Pereira ó Manizales, on a road trip we can enjoy a typical Paisa breakfast, then we will head towards the high mountain refuge El Cisne where we will warm up for our acclimatization hike and We will visit the mystical Laguna del Otún, located approximately 3,950 meters high, surrounded by extensive frailejones forests.

There will be a technical talk about the use of the equipment on the glacier, as well as the final recommendations for the climb to the summit.

Day 2

On our second day of the journey, we will begin very early in the morning with a light breakfast to begin the ascent along the south face of the snow-capped mountain to finally reach the summit of the Nevado Santa Isabel Volcano. If weather conditions allow, we will be able to observe the sunrise while feeling the Santa Isabel Glacier under our feet. After this journey we will begin the descent to return to the city of Pereira o Manizales.

A beautiful refuge in the middle of the paramo with an incredible view at 4,100 meters high.

Otún Lagoon

Beautiful natural reservoir at 3,950 meters, birthplace of the aqueduct of the city of Pereira.

Nevado Santa Isabel Volcano

One of the 7 snow-capped peaks in our national territory, with a maximum height of 4,965 meters.

😷 Carry a PPE Personal Protection Elements Kit (Masks, antibacterial gel, alcohol in a spray bottle, glasses or mask, disposable tissues, bag for personal waste disposal).

💧 It is important to carry a bottle of water and maintain constant hydration, we will go on long walks and maintaining hydration is healthy.

🧢 Wear a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun. It is important to use sunscreen, remember to use a mineral sunscreen for your face.

👕 Pack enough clothes for three days. We suggest avoiding the use of cotton clothing and wearing synthetic fiber clothing that allows quick drying, in general special clothing for high mountains: jacket, quick-drying pants, wool hat, gloves, glasses with UV filter. Don't forget your change of clothes in case you get wet or muddy.

🥾 Wear comfortable shoes, preferably hiking shoes, in any case avoid ballet shoes or cloth tennis shoes. It is important to bring a change of shoes in case your shoes get wet during the tour.

💊 Bring your medications and personal documents (medical insurance card and ID).

🎒 Don't use a wheeled suitcase. Carry a hands-free backpack to store all the luggage that must be well distributed in plastic bags. Bring a small backpack so you can take your personal items on hikes.

🔦 We suggest bringing a blanket for the cold in the early morning when leaving Bogotá and a flashlight.

They will be hikes through high mountains, therefore you must be in good physical condition. We will start from 41,000 meters above sea level. And we will reach 4900 meters above sea level. The difficulty is high and the tours last between 3 and 7 hours depending on the itinerary of the day.

Keep in mind that you are responsible for your belongings. Protect your electronic devices and personal documents from rain and humidity.

Carry your cell phone charged, this will allow you to take photographs and use it in case of emergency.

Your safety is very important, please be cautious, always keep the group in sight and follow the guide's instructions.

Do not bring cigarettes or alcoholic beverages. Do not attend a walk late at night, while intoxicated, pregnant, or with medical disabilities.

Strictly follow your doctor's instructions regarding injuries and, if necessary, carry your personal medications.
