Prado Dam in Tolima, Mohan Cave and Waterfalls

Day 1

We will travel from Bogotá to the Municipality of Prado in Tolima. Before reaching the dam we will visit Salto de Atá, a beautiful and refreshing waterfall in the middle of a beautiful landscape surrounded by mountains. After this experience we will travel to Hidroprado, known as the sea in the interior of Colombia. We will travel by boat to reach the hotel where we will spend the night. At the hotel you can rest, watch the sunset and enjoy a swim in the pool.

Day 2

Throughout the morning we will enjoy an extensive tour of the natural attractions of the reservoir, we will visit the Enchanted Lagoon, the Yacopì Labyrinths, the Mohan Cave, the Lovers' Canyon, the Isal del Sol, among others. After noon we will return to the hotel to have lunch, rest for a while and begin our trip back to Bogotá.

Atá Falls

This is a beautiful waterfall with different shades of water due to the effect of sunlight. With the midday rays you can see a greenish tone and in the afternoon when the sunlight is already resting on the mountains a tone between blues and grays.

Municipality of Prado

It was discovered in the year 1545 by Don Gonzalo Jiménez De Quesada, on his way to the Neiva Valley, and was founded on August 12, 1781. On October 14, 1795, the wise Francisco José arrived in the village of Prado. From Caldas, in order to carry out studies on the fauna and flora. During his nine-day stay alternating between Purificación and Prado, he also dedicated himself to analyzing mineral sources and taking samples to carry out future studies.

Hydroprado Dam

On March 1, 1959, once the projects had been studied and approved, excavation work began for the construction of the Prado River Hydroelectric Dam. After 13 years of hard work, the work was completed, which has a surface area of 4,300 hectares and the service was provided on October 12, 1972, making this artificial lake one of the greatest tourist attractions in the municipality, due to its surprising natural beauty and for being one of the largest in Colombia.

🧢 Wear a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun. It is important to use sunscreen, remember to use a mineral sunscreen for your face.

👕 Pack light clothes, enough for hot land for two days. We suggest long pants and a long-sleeved shirt since during the walks we will encounter trees with long branches and this will help us avoid scratches. It is also important to bring a raincoat in case of rain and a towel for personal use.

🥾 Wear comfortable shoes, preferably hiking shoes, in any case avoid ballet shoes or cloth tennis shoes. It is important to bring a change of shoes in case your shoes get wet during the tour.

💊 Bring your medications and personal documents (medical insurance card and ID), there are no ATMs in the area. Therefore, we suggest bringing the cash you consider necessary for your personal expenses.

🎒 Do not use a wheeled suitcase and carry an additional kangaroo or small backpack so you can take your personal items on walks.

🔦 We suggest bringing a blanket for the cold in the early morning when leaving Bogotá, repellent and a flashlight.

• Carry your cell phone charged, this will allow you to take photographs and use it in case of emergency.
• Your safety is very important, please be cautious, always keep the group in sight and follow the guide's instructions.
• Do not attend a walk late at night, while intoxicated, pregnant, or with medical disabilities.
• Strictly follow your doctor's instructions regarding injuries and, if necessary, carry your personal medications.
