Los Flamencos Fauna and Flora Sanctuary

One of the spectacles that visitors can enjoy is the stillness of the clear, blue skies of the La Guajira Peninsula, interrupted by bursts of intense pink that dissolve into spirals over the lagoons of the Sanctuary. These are flocks of flamingos, slender birds with pink plumage that give the name to this protected area. The graceful flamingos and the majestic coloration of their plumage are the main attraction of the Sanctuary, which despite its small size, is considered one of the richest protected areas in variety of resident and migratory waterbirds.
