Municipality of San Pablo de Borbur

This is a land that was once jungle and wasteland. In 1911, Francisco Fernández established a hacienda here, growing sugar cane, rice and cotton, taking advantage of the labor of the few remaining indigenous people. Today, San Pablo de Borbur stands out for its emerald deposits, such as the renowned Coscuez mine, recognized worldwide for its outstanding production. Explore this natural gem and its historical legacy.

Municipality of Otanche

Otanche, one of the main emporiums of Boyacá. In ancient times, this territory was home to the muzos, a brave Caribbean indigenous group, whose economic activity was focused on the possession, exploitation and trade of emeralds. Although the municipality was founded on November 17, 1960, its history is intertwined with the ancient Muzo,

Fura and Tena Hills

The legend inspired by these exotic rock pillars is based on a real, already mythological, couple of the ancestors of the indigenous Muiscas who populated this region of the Andes centuries before the Muzos. The prince's name is Tena and his wife is Fura, the most beautiful in the kingdom. At the beginning of time Fura and Tena were happy and their happiness was assured by the God Are as long as Pura was faithful. But the evil God Sarbe promised the princess her immortality, and with this trick he seduced her, her act of infidelity broke the sky and as a result all evils fell on the world.

Las Cacas Canyon Cavern

A natural jewel that is housed in a territory stigmatized by the green war of emerald mining, is revealed for nature lovers, where we can appreciate an impressive cavern canyon where birds like Guacharos live and to get to this place we must cross the forest and the river, where biodiversity is manifested at every step and where impressive waterfalls stand out that show us that the true jewel of western Boyacá is its nature.
