Discover this magical place where you can discover the lush native vegetation of the source of the Bogotá River. We will leave the city to enjoy the diversity of flora and fauna on a route designed for those people who want to start hiking. We will travel the route of the birth of the Bogotá River; three bodies of water surrounded by crystal clear waters where we will also enjoy the wonderful landscape of a Páramo ecosystem at 3,440 meters above sea level.

We will travel to the municipality of Villapinzon where this adventure will begin. The walk is divided into 3 parts. In the first we will visit the Guacheneque Lagoon on a tour on easy-to-walk terrain. We will enjoy the paramo ecosystem to see its beauty, its vegetation and the abundant water it generates, where the Bogotá River is born. Then we will go to a viewpoint to observe another beautiful body of water; the Map Lagoon. To get there you will travel along a very well-preserved stretch of paved road, and a natural path with very varied vegetation.

Guacheneque Paramo
The Páramo is the birthplace of the Bogotá River, being one of the most important water supplies for the capital, surrounded by natural spectacles such as the Otter Well and its spectacular fauna and flora of the high Andean forest. We will travel the route of the river's birth surrounded by crystal clear waters and we will get to know one of the most beautiful ecosystems in the country and of high natural importance.
Guacheneque Lagoon
The Bogotá River is born there, the water pools in this space that requires care and preservation since it has been drying out. It has witnessed the passage of indigenous communities. Given the depth, it has not been possible to explore or loot it; it is said that treasures of gold and precious stones are preserved there.
Map Lagoon
It is a lagoon that has the shape of the map of Colombia, this beautiful body of water is part of the fragmentation of the Guacheneque Lagoon.
💦 We will be in a moor with chances of rain, please don't forget to bring a change of clothes for after the tour. Do not wear jeans or cotton clothing, preferably wear quick-drying clothing. You can bring a change of clothes that you can leave in the car.
🥾 We will take a walk through streams and rivers. Wearing shoes that can get wet, boots or footwear with a good grip sole that protects the ankle is ideal. Avoid wearing converse-type sneakers or ballet shoes. Don't wear new shoes on these outings.
🧢 Wear a hat or cap, sunscreen.
💊 Bring your medications and personal documents (medical insurance card and ID).
🎒 Use an ergonomic two-strap backpack to carry on your back.
How do you know if this plan is for you?
This trail is level 2 (low). Ideal for people who are starting to hike or want to go out and enjoy nature with easy walking trails. A distance of 7 km will be walked in 5 hours. An altimetry of less than 300 meters. Maximum height 3,700 m.a.s.l.
What will the food be like?
At Road Trip we are aware of our impact on nature, which is why we choose to offer a vegetarian food option. If you consider that animal protein is necessary in your diet, you can leave this observation in our comment box when making the reservation.
We will make a stop before starting the trail for those people who want to have breakfast.
We also suggest you bring snacks such as fruits, nuts, sandwiches or cereal bars. Don't forget to bring at least a liter of water to hydrate yourself along the way.
